Here is a cool, complex groove written by my student Anujan. Its a 4 bar linear pattern based on groups of 3/3/6/4. The beat is in an ABAC format, meaning that bar 1 and 3 are the same (A) and 2 and 4 have slight variations (B,C). This leads to what is referred to as a "time feel", a beat with variations on an idea rather than repeating the same thing over and over. Learn it one bar at a time very slowly. This type of playing is not easy. 40 bpm is a good starting marker. Enjoy!
